Clayton is an experienced and wonderful art teacher. He focuses on individual student even though it'due south a group setting in his studio. Each student is actually working on a unlike projection, like sketching or painting, etc. He patrols around and gives his private attention to each student and corrects / supports / teaches them 1 past one. My daughter wanted to utilise to SOTA through DSA which required the candidate to become through on-the-spot drawing test. Since she didn't learn that in school, I wanted her to get some skills to exist able to achieve her goals. When I googled, Classical Realism seemed like the perfect friction match. I went and met Clayton and institute his studio very conducive to learning. My daughter loved his classes. Clayton is flexible and his teachings are customised, which is the all-time part. He is also very helpful and prompt. My daughter finally got into SOTA and a big thanks to Clayton for his assistance in teaching sketching basics. I will highly recommend his classes.
This review is long-overdue....Excellent instruction in the nearly comfortable setting ane can ever ask for! My son has been with Clayton for virtually a year at present and his skills have improved tremendously under Clayton'southward guidance and didactics. Before joining Clayton, he was hardly comfortable with observational drawing but that totally changed afterward joining the classes. He was inspired and continued to sketch random things from everyday life outside of the classroom setting. I'm also impressed with the number of new artworks (quality pieces) he could produce week after week. In less than 6 months, he was able to develop a portfolio that was proficient enough for submission to SOTA. It was a successful application and my son was offered a place in SOTA somewhen. Whether yous are serious about developing a great portfolio for yourself; a beginner; or a serious amateur artist wanting to develop your skills to all the same another level, Clayton is the perfect teacher to get to!
I was rejected past NUS while doing my National Service and decided to enrol in Clayton's classes in order to build a portfolio for the next round of application. With Clayton's unwavering support and guidance, I managed to create a substantial portfolio for my application and was finally accepted into NUS Architecture. This definitely would not accept been possible without Clayton'southward abiding help and guidance. There is just so much to larn from him. If someone is looking to learn drawing/painting or to improve an already amazing ability, Clayton is definitely the ane to learn from. An affectionate, dedicated and extremely knowledgeable teacher, Clayton makes lessons enjoyable notwithstanding challenging at the same time. I believe that Clayton makes a great contribution to Singapore and can go along to exercise and then in the years to come up.
Clayton has helped tremendously with my art progress throughout my year at that place, both in pencil sketching and painting. He'due south a patient teacher with really helpful tips and tricks that helped increase my noesis and skill in art. His studio is a keen environment to larn in as other students work hard on their pieces and help motivate one some other. Also the light music in the background was helpful. Thank you Clayton, it was a great experience learning from a super dedicated and fun teacher!
I only started learning from Clayton recently and I bask every session. Clayton is thorough and well-nigh importantly patient when didactics. Drawing has been nigh therapeutic, And I enjoy the chats we have while cartoon. I'd reccomend Clayton to anyone who is willing to put in the piece of work and learn. Fifty-fifty if you're a newbie like myself. Cheers Clayton. Am looking forward to more lessons. Irving
Clayton was the most inspiring teacher and friend that a student could have ever asked for. He provided a very comfortable and inspired space where I could experience at ease to practice and experiment with a variety of mediums, 1 of my favorites while working with him was oil paint. While having a very tough year health wise, I decided to not only take a break from classes simply as well school. Even though I was in a bad condition being very unwell, Clayton managed to convince me to behave on with his classes by being so accommodating to the situation that I was in, Clayton carried on pushing me to achieve the very best that I could despite the state of affairs that I was in because he had promise in me and saw that I had the ability to still achieve what I was aiming for, something that not many people could see. Without Clayton, I would have never learnt the skills that I at present know today, his techniques were admittedly brilliant and accept already started to exist of great use in this next affiliate of my life. I would have never washed my GCSE'southward and gotten an A* and I would accept never plant a distraction for the hurting. He turned my awful year into the very best that information technology could be so thank you Clayton! And for anyone reading this he actually is a very talented man and brilliant at what he does. Every lesson with him is total of fun, experimenting and learning new techniques. During the process of moving countries I started to panic that I would never detect a teacher every bit inspiring and dedicated to his students as Clayton and Since moving I accept realized that that was true, no i volition ever be as adept.
I started these classes (as an activity with the spouse) with no noesis nearly painting, let solitary something as mystifying as oil paints. All the same, after the first session with Clayton, I learned how to create a pretty decent flick using just two colours. He taught us how to sketch a 3D shape, how to mix just black and white to get a spectrum of greys used in creating light and shadow, which brushes to use and where to brainstorm when painting. I found the three-hour session extremely enjoyable and information technology made me feel like I'd really learnt a new skill. Over the months, I've seen my paintings meliorate with the advice Clayton gives. He doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary jargon, and is able to pinpoint what needs tweaking and gives applied communication on how to practise that. There is a wide range of artistic skills in each class but every student is given specialized attention. No one is always made to feel similar they cannot draw or pigment. A fantastic class for anyone to nourish whether information technology's to fine-tune their skills or just to spend an afternoon destressing.
When I was a child, I "knew" I couldn't pigment. I "knew" that, considering some other kids could, and it seemed to just flow for them, whereas I seemed stuck in the same shapes, lines and colours from the age of nearly 6.
Then, I sort of gave up on the idea of ever painting. Wasn't something I could do.
Equally I grew older I began to realise that everyone can learn technique, whether it's technique for sports, or music, or exams or.... art?
I thought maybe I should requite a class a get. Maybe I'd just confirm my ineptitude. Closure in a certain way.
Class one : paint a cube! It was a footling shaky. But I realised 1 matter on the get-go day, just using blackness and white and creating shades (or "values" :) ) of everything in between, I could create the impression of depth. Of a sudden, the strokes of a brush and the choice of a different value of grey to the one adjacent to it, fabricated me see "something" on the canvas. Cheers Clayton! First of many subsequent moments of enlightenment.
I progressed. Cylinder! Still, one of my favourite pieces. Information technology simply stood out confronting the background. I realised that I also had astonishing flexibility to ascertain what I thought should be in the picture, and what I could include to help me finish a coherent work. Didn't have to be exactly everything earlier me, I could make progress and bring information technology to a finish.
Afterward a few classes, I started on organic forms, basically faces, and fruit. A few times I idea, this is merely going to end in disaster. All the same, a helping impulse from Clayton and the piece would come together again. I realised that learning as a journey was enjoyable and that it would never be perfect. It would just be very fulfilling.
I oasis't taken equally many classes as I would like due to the usual distractions in life, but I feel i accept belatedly started a journey that we should all begin, the i to express ourselves visually. Technique gives us structure, practice gives united states of america confidence, results give us pride.
Thanks, Clayton. Yous got me started.
I started to take Clayton'due south class last year and am rather pleased with my progress over the time under his guidance. I came to him without much background in drawing and he helped me found a good foundation in realism drawing. His methodologies also develop students' observational skills. Clayton'southward knowledge is all-encompassing and he transfers his sophisticated noesis through easy to sympathise explanation and sit-in to make sure you go it. The cute studio instantly set y'all in art mode and iii hours passes by without you realising it. I'thou leaving Singapore for now. If I ever return, will definitely resume my class there.
I'm a student who accept passion in art, and had planed to go to NAFA. I've been learned drawing in Classical Realism Singapore for half a year, and the instructor in that location helped me a lot! I started from drawing the basic shapes with pencils at the beginning, and now I tin can draw something complex. The instructor there teaches very well that I'chiliad not boring during his classes. It'south really grateful that I passed the admission examination from NAFA, and I can become to art school at present.
Afterward a long search for a competent fine art teacher (it took several years), nosotros discovered Clayton last year and since then nosotros have been visiting his beautiful studio near every weekend. Clayton is a patient and nurturing teacher. He is passionate about his craft and focuses his students' attention on developing the primal techniques in classical realism. Clayton is a highly qualified and truthful professional person fine art teacher; a rare find.
Fine art classes with Clayton has improved my observation and appreciaition for my surround whether its the sky or different shades of shadow. Incredible patience and professionalism from him. He works with dissimilar levels of 'talents' and even my family members were surpised with what I have produced. Keep it up Clayton and thanks for making Singapore your home!! God anoint
:D really enjoyed the lessons! I wasn't familiar with traditional fine art when i get-go joined, but Mr Clayton was very patient with me and i improved within a brusk period of time. He is very nice to all the students no thing what their skill level is, and gives each of them personalized feedback. Loved the temper of the studio, too, it is quiet most of the time and i tin can concentrate on my piece of work. 10/10
